The Nut-in-Chief Just Keeps Getting Nuttier

So what is this guy’s deal, anyway? Could he possibly become any more of a spokesman for anti-American and anti-Israeli sentiment? I will tell you, I have lived now through seven presidential administrations (having been born in 1969), and I have NEVER felt the anger and shame toward an American president that I now feel toward possibly the most failed president in our history. That, of course, would be one Jimmy Carter.

I thought I was angry and disappointed when I learned that Bill Clinton had been receiving sexual favors in the Oval Office from a young intern, and then lying about it under oath…and I was. However, that pales in comparison to what I would call the treasonous acts of our thirty-ninth president.

Imagine my dismay as I read about the peanut-farmer-turned-president going to the West Bank city of Ramallah yesterday and actually laying a wreath of roses on the tomb of Yasser Arafat. That’s right, the same terror leader who was responsible for the deaths of two American diplomats in the Sudan in 1973, and untold atrocities against our partner and ally in the region, Israel.

Although his trip is unsanctioned, and the State Department says he is doing all of this as a private American citizen, not as a former American President, the fact remains that he is in fact a former president. His acts show true thoughtlessness, at best, and true apostasy at worst, of his supposed loyalties to the United States of America and all she stands for.

Then, to top it all off, Carter has plans to meet with exiled Hammas leader Khaled Mashaal in Damascus on Friday. That is, if he doesn’t defect to Iran or something before then.

You know, after seeing his actions since leaving office in 1980, I am starting to think that maybe Carter didn’t have such a failed presidency after all. Maybe he had ulterior motives for our great nation all along!

In an ‘Absolut’ World, Illegals Would Stay at HOME!

I know I’m a few days late in getting the jump on this story, but so much has been going on, and it’s just hard for one man, even one as good as me, to do it all! But, I try.

It seems that our “friends” at Absolut vodka have chosen to market to Mexicans in a very unique way. They have chosen to go for the heart of Mexicans. Am I talking about Mexico City, the capital? No. I am talking about Aztlan. Aztlan is the part of Mexico that was sold to the United States in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

It is also a subject which I cover in great detail in the second “chapter” of my upcoming book, “Mr. Right Opinion-Unplugged and Unashamed” (soon available at: http://www.51756.authorworld.com/). The United States of Aztlan, as I call it in my book, consists of the United States of America giving back to Mexico what they truly feel is theirs. That is more than one-third of the U.S.. States include: Arizona, New Mexico, California, Texas, Utah, Nevada and Colorado. That’s just working from memory, but you get the idea.

This is a total slap in the face of Americans by Absolut vodka, and it deserves an immediate boycott of the alcoholic beverage. If you must drink vodka, try SKYY Vodka. In an email from ALIPAC (Americans for Legal Immigration PAC), they say of a SKYY vodka press release, “History was made when American-made SKYY vodka sent out a press release proudly supporting the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and criticizing Absolut for their offensive advertising in Mexico.”

A Newsmax article, “Absolute’s ‘Mexico U.S.’ Map Angers Many,” on April 14, 2008, quotes SKYY vodka spokesman Dave Karraker as saying, “Like SKYY vodka, the residents of states like California, Texas and Arizona are exceptionally proud of the fact that they are from the United States of America. To imply that they might be interested in changing their mailing address, as our competitor seems to be suggesting in their advertising, is a bit presumptuous.” Well said, David!

This United States of Aztlan is real, folks. It’s time to wake up to what’s going on around us. Yes, we need to be involved in our political process and learn what our candidates are all about. However, you are not going to get that in these loop replays of he said-she said stuff that the media feed you. You have to go out and do some digging for yourselves.

I know it’s not easy to find the time. Believe me, I am a single father of two girls, just finished writing a book, am a guest commentator on one blog, and have two blogs of my own that I’m trying to keep up. I know it’s hard to find the time, and even harder to find the energy, to investigate this stuff. But, that is why I am here. I feel it my job to do the homework. Then you have the obligation to “trust but verify.” At least with my writings, you have a starting point at which to begin the verification process.

As I write in my upcoming book, Aztlan is what Mexicans who feel they got the short end of the stick call the land that the United States legally purchased in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. And for the past thirty to forty years, there has been a movement afoot to flood the Southwest United States with both legal and illegal Mexicans. The idea is to gain more political, cultural, and social clout. The eventual goal here is to regain what are now rightfully states belonging to the United States of America.

Just look at these next couple of paragraphs taken from my book, “Mr. Right Opininion-Unplugged and Unashamed:” Charles Truxillo, professor of Hispanic Studies at the University of New Mexico, predicts that it is inevitable that this mythical Aztlan will be created, adding that the capital would most likely be Los Angeles. He further advocates that this should be accomplished, "by any means possible."

He does admit, however, that Mexico lacks the military capability to make this happen. So he surmises that Aztlan will be brought about by political pressure from what will inevitably be a majority of the Hispanic population if immigration is not brought under control.

Now, this next part should make any American mad enough to revolt. In an interview with the Albuquerque Tribune, Professor Truxillo, an instructor at an American institution of higher learning, funded by tax dollars collected from the sweat and hard work of American citizens, who are here LEGALLY, claims that it is his "task to help develop a 'cadre of intellectuals' to begin thinking about the practicalities of how the Republic of the North (a name he sees as befitting this new Aztlan) can become a reality."

So, it’s not enough that we have fifteen-twenty MILLION illegals to worry about here, now we have to deal with some Swedish vodka company running ads calling on Mexicans to basically continue the fight for this Aztlan? I say we ban Absolut from the American alcohol-consuming community. If they think it’s so great, why don’t they rent a few hundred-thousand airplanes and bring the illegals to Sweden. Heck, just get them drunk, they won’t care!

Venezuela’s Chavez Stirs the Pot Some More

Before I start this article, I would like to point out that I have intentionally steered clear of the election fiasco as of late, something I am sure has not escaped the attention of my readers. I have done this because our party’s decision has been made, and there is nothing that I could say about the two Democrats that would be nearly as damaging as what they are saying about each other.

I may enter the fray on occasion, but for now, I am waiting until the general elections to start firing my guns. Having said that, I will get on with the task at hand.

It seems that President Chavez, the Venezuelan dictator, is trying to stir up more trouble down in his neck of the woods. The dictator, it seems, has proposed founding what he calls “SATO” (South Atlantic Treaty Organization). On Sunday, according to FoxNews.com, the president said, “’I once said that if NATO exists — the North Atlantic Treaty Organization — why couldn't SATO exist? The South Atlantic Treaty Organization?’”

President/dictator Chavez first proposed this “SATO” back in 1999 when he began his official role as president, but the idea was quickly met with regional opposition.

Pres./dictator Chavez announced that he would make the proposal to the Brazillian Defense Minister, Nelson Jobim, when he visit’s the Venezuelan capital Monday. This comes as a surprise to yours truly, as Brazil and the United States have had a fairly good relationship as of late.

In fact, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars quotes the former Brazilian Ambassador to the United States in 2004 as saying, “Not a single action taken or decision made by the United States in the last three years has negatively affected Brazilian interests….”

So, why would Chavez start with Brazil? That really is a puzzler considering that he has countries like Cuba and Suriname (who?) to consider. From what I’ve read, the U.S. and Brazil, as I have pointed out, have a pretty healthy relationship. I wouldn’t think they would want to risk having us as an ally by partnering with one of our most disliked dictators. And if they go along with this idea, they are fools.

I honestly do not think this is going anywhere. I think that Chavez has a grand plan that he would like to put into place which would leave him in control of this so-called SATO. He said that the defense council (SATO) would , according to Yahoo news, “design our own defense policies.” He failed to mention that he would be the chief architect in this “design team.”

But the question remains, why would these countries, outside of the ones already on the wrong end of America’s generosity, want to ostracize themselves from the good will of the United States of America?

While, as I said, I think this plan is going nowhere, I thought you should know what the rest of the world is up to while the MSM tells you about Hillary dodging sniper fire and Barack Hussein Obama talking about his kids being “punished” with having a baby. What a couple of idiots those two are.

By the way, for those who didn’t know, Citgo gas is owned, lock, stock and barrel, by Venezuela’s Chavez. Therefore, you can do your part by not purchasing ANYTHING from Citgo gas stations.

Finally, don’t forget about my upcoming book, “Mr. Right Opinion-Unplugged and Unashamed.” It will be available soon at: http://www.51756.authorworld.com/.

Freedom Again Lays Down for Islamo-facism

It has happened again. Remember a few articles back I wrote about a web-hosting company in Virginia that backed out of a deal to broadcast a sixteen-minute film about the link between the koran and radical Islam? Well, it has happened again--this time in England.

According to CNSNews.com, in an article entitled “Koran Film Taken Down ‘After Threats,’” by Patrick Goodenough, the film, which was made by Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders, and was called “Fitna,” ran long enough to be seen by millions of viewers.

However, after receiving “…threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill-informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff,” the British server provider LiveLeak.com took the film down.

Now, I can respect the company not wanting to put any of its employees in harm’s way. However, we HAVE GOT to realize here, folks, that this is not child’s play. This is not a game of Blackjack where you can come back and maybe have better luck tomorrow. This is winner-take-all stakes, and so far, we ain’t winnin’!

Sure, we have a professional military that can deploy and kick butt anywhere in the world. There’s no doubt about that. What we fail to realize, though, is that sometimes we need a little sacrifice on the home front, too! We are too ambivalent about our freedom. We are too lazy to do what it may take to keep it, and we are too scared to look back and see what our forefathers had to do to secure it for us!

The LiveLeak.com website is quoted in the CNSNews story as saying, “This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realized LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.”

Where would we be today if Colonial Americans had said, “Sorry about this Great Experiment thing, folks, but the British have threatened us, and we just can’t man-up to the challenge?” Where in the heck would we be? I’ll tell you where, in England, or in British America, that’s where we’d be.

Give me a break! Come on and get some anatomy about yourselves you so-called freedom-lovers. Yes, you are freedom-lovers, just not freedom-protectors. I’ll tell you, if I had to die to protect freedom of speech for my children, I would do it in a second. And with the stuff I write about, who knows, I just might. But I’ll be damned if I will just let someone take it from me, or my kids!

Cao's "Key to Victory" Show

I appeared as a guest on Cao's (pronounced 'Key's') Blog Talk Radio show last night. We had a great time, or at least I did.

Unfortunately, we only had a half-hour, so we didn't cover nearly as much ground as I would have liked.

You can listen to it here: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Cao/2008/04/12/Key-To-Victory-Show

Hopefully that will work.

The Nut Farm in President Carter’s Head

Here goes that Jimmy Carter again. It’s bad enough that the guy won a Nobel Peace Prize after one of the most failed administrations in American history. And after some of the treasonous acts he has committed after he left office. After all, it is no secret that there is an unwritten rule that a former U.S. President does not speak ill of a sitting one, which Carter did to President Bush…repeatedly.

Now we hear from the State Department that the former president is planning a mid-April trip to Syria. A trip which, I might add, is of an unsanctioned nature. FOXNews.com is reporting that Carter will land in Israel, and then will make visits to Syria and Saudi Arabia. What a nut job this guy is.

Fox quotes a State Department spokesman as saying, “[T]he State Department has expressed our concerns and advised President Carter that past engagement with the Syrian regime has not produced positive results.” And according to the Arab newspaper al-Hayat, Carter also plans to meet with Khaled Meshal, the exiled leader of the Palestinian terror group Hamas.

Several calls by Fox News to the Carter Center seeking comment were apparently, and conveniently, not returned. Hmm…wonder why.

Since his failed presidency in the latter part of the 1970’s, Jimmy Carter has been very harsh on Israel, and has worked against a successful solution to the Israeli-Palestine conflict. He has even gone so far as to author a book entitled “Palestine: Peace not Apartheid.”

As Alan Dershowitz points out, “South African apartheid, against which I and so many other Jews fought, was the absolute control over a majority of blacks by a small minority of whites. It was the opposite of democracy.” He goes on to explain that the majority rules in Israel, that there is no South African-style apartheid in Israel.

Why, then, Dershowitz asks, would Carter attack Israel with accusations of apartheid? It is a question that he and many others, myself included, would like to have answered. If I am not mistaken, and I am not, Carter was president when a bunch of crazed, Iranian, muslim students overran a U.S. embassy and took dozens of Americans hostage until Ronald Reagan won the presidency and was sworn into office in 1980.

If anyone should be familiar with the hostile nature of Islamic extremists it is Jimmy Carter! Why on Earth would he want to go “represent America” on an unsanctioned trip to meet with leaders of terrorist organizations? It is simply beyond the pale and defies imagination.

In Dershowitz’s column, “The World According to Jimmy Carter,” posted Nov. 2, 2006, on the Huffington Post, Alan points out many discrepancies in Carter’s book. Here are but a few:

• Carter repeatedly claims that the Palestinians have long supported a two-state solution and the Israelis have always opposed it. Yet he makes no mention of the fact that in 1938 the Peel Commission proposed a two-state solution with Israel receiving a mere sliver of its ancient homeland and the Palestinians receiving the bulk of the land. The Jews accepted and the Palestinians rejected this proposal, because Arab leaders cared more about there being no Jewish state on Muslim holy land than about having a Palestinian state of their own.

• Carter repeatedly mentions Security Council Resolution 242, which called for return of captured territories in exchange for peace, recognition and secure boundaries, but he ignores the fact that Israel accepted and all the Arab nations and the Palestinians rejected this resolution. The Arabs met in Khartum and issued their three famous "no's": "No peace, no recognition, no negotiation" but you wouldn't know that from reading the history according to Carter.

• Carter blames Israel, and exonerates Arafat, for the Palestinian refusal to accept statehood on 95% of the West Bank and all of Gaza pursuant to the Clinton-Barak offers of Camp David and Taba in 2000-2001. He accepts the Palestinian revisionist history, rejects the eye-witness accounts of President Clinton and Dennis Ross and ignores Saudi Prince Bandar's accusation that Arafat's rejection of the proposal was "a crime" and that Arafat's account "was not truthful"--except, apparently, to Carter. The fact that Carter chooses to believe Yasir Arafat over Bill Clinton speaks volumes.

And these are only three of the falsehoods in Carter’s book that Dershowitz points out. There are many others. And yet they gave this guy a Nobel Peace Prize? I should think I would deserve one before Mr. Carter.

At any rate, Carter’s unending championing of the phrase “ignorance is bliss” goes on unchallenged. Hey, Mr. President, while you’re there, could you see what you can do about these outrageous gas prices? Thanks!

Fighting Illegal Immigration and Liberal Media Bias

While perusing Louisville’s Courier-Journal newspaper on Sunday, April 6, 2008, my eyes were naturally drawn to an article entitled “Arizona Waging Immigration Fight On Its Own Terms.” As you may have read, I have focused quite a bit of energy and brain-power on the issue of illegal immigration. In fact, a lot of my new book, Mr. Right Opinion-Unplugged and Unashamed (available soon at: http://www.51756.authorworld.com/), deals with this very topic.

However, I was particularly interested in this article because it sounded as though the newspaper was praising Arizona for dealing with the issue on its own terms, as opposed to waiting for the federal government to get around to it (as if that will ever happen). And if you read the Courier-Journal, or any other Gannett-owned newspaper, you know how out-of-character it is for anything conservative to get positive coverage.

Now, I will be the first to admit that my articles are biased. I report on current events from a conservative point of view, and I make no apologies for it. However, I am the operator of a news and opinion weblog. I am not, nor do I claim to be, an independent source of news. The Courier, however, is supposed to be a newspaper; inherently obligated to report on current events from an unbiased stance. But as we all know, unbiased journalism is nearly impossible to find these days.

At any rate, the story started out on a good note. Reporter Nicholas Raccardi, of the Los Angeles Times (no bias at that paper), starts the article by noting that “Arizona has become a laboratory for whether a state can single-handedly combat illegal immigration.” This statement obviously makes the point that the feds are doing next-to-nothing on the illegal immigration front. And nothing could be closer to the truth.

The article points out that Arizona, in recent years, has made it almost impossible for illegals to receive government services, and that a new law there makes it possible for the state to close businesses that hire illegal immigrants. It also says that the sheriff of Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, has his deputies, along with “posses” of volunteers, going out to search for “illegal street vendors or immigrants.” All good things in my opinion. Any time a state can solve problems without the interference of the federal government, that is a good thing. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

Apparently, state Rep. Russell Pearce, who has authored some of Arizona’s toughest immigration laws, feels as I do. The LA Times quotes him as saying, “What I love about what Arizona is doing is that we don’t have to rely on the federal government…. It has truly woken the rest of America that states can fix that problem.”

Up to this point, the news story had been strangely, and uncharacteristically, positive about Arizona’s fight against illegal immigration. It just seemed to good to be true…and it was! Mr. Riccardi was just setting us up for the kill. The rest of his article is just a rant about how unfair it is to illegals for American states to actually enforce immigration law. The article spends all of three paragraphs highlighting the positives of the state’s immigration fight, and it spends the remaining twenty-three paragraphs on a huge, bleeding-heart diatribe about the evils of enforcing the law.

By my estimation, that is nearly an eight-to-one allotment of negative vs. positive coverage. This is a terribly unfair advantage to the pro-illegal camp. Especially when one considers the fact that news outlets are supposed to be neutral in the first place!

The article states that “Illegal immigrants complain that it’s impossible to find good work and (they) are leaving the state.” It would seem to me that this outcome is the whole goal of what the state is doing, and that Arizona is therefore meeting it’s goal. That’s really not too hard to figure out.

Mr. Riccardi does point out one legitimate complaint: he says that a minority of illegals have been unfairly victimized by the system the state uses to verify the employability of potential illegals. Apparently, Arizona uses a system called E-verify, a federal pilot project that allows businesses to verify the status of workers. It seems that the system has mistakenly identified a small percentage of people as possible illegals.

However, the acting chief of E-verify, Katherine Lotspeich, said officials would soon be proposing several changes which would make the system more error-free. The reporter then identifies one of the “victims” of the E-verify system, a naturalized citizen who was told by employers that he would lose his job due to information supplied by E-verify.

What the article tries to hide, though, is the fact that the reason the “victim,” Mr. Ochoa, was classified the way he was is that he, like some 3,200 foreign-born U.S. citizens, failed to register his citizenship with the Social Security Administration. Therefore, they are classified by E-verify as possible illegal immigrants. So, in reality, what the reporter tries to call victims of the system are actually victims of their own failure to properly register their citizenship.

It truly is amazing how these folks at the LA Times try to play on our emotions. In one case, they talk about a thirty-two year-old illegal by the name of Jorge Hernandez. They say that Mr. Hernandez, who has lived in Phoenix illegally for the past eleven years, lost a job he had worked at for years because of the new employer-based sanctions enacted by Arizona.

The quote from the newspaper is: “Now he struggles to support his family by working as a day-laborer, and is thinking of leaving.” Seriously, that’s what they say in trying to garner my sympathy for this man who is here illegally in the first place. They say he now dreams of moving to New Mexico, where the anti-illegal immigrant sentiment is weaker.

State Rep. Pearce, whom I quoted earlier, said that the positive effects of Arizona’s efforts were undeniable. “Smaller classroom sizes (and) shorter emergency room waits” have been seen as a result of the state’s work. He also says, “Even if (illegal immigrants) are paying taxes-and most of them aren’t-the cost to taxpayers is huge.”

The state’s work in fighting illegal immigration is having a major impact. So effective is it that the neighboring Mexican state of Sonora has complained about the number of refugees fleeing Arizona and coming back to Mexico. Imagine that…a Mexican state complaining about the number of Mexican “refugees” crossing the border! Only now, the illegals are heading in the right direction!

I'm back!

Hello fellow Opinionators! I am home from the hospital; thanks go out to those who sent their well-wishes.

I am home, and I even have my next story picked out. However, at the moment, it is just too painful to spend any time at the computer. I am hoping, though, that the pain medicine will kick in long enough for me to sit down and actually write the article.

I know I haven't touched much on illegal immigration lately, so that will be the topic. Hopefully it will be up later today.

Thanks for hanging with me, and I will be heard from soon.

Sex Offenders “Sign Up”

This next story just warms my heart. It seems there is this seventy-two year old pervert out in central Kansas who has a fetish for eleven-year-old boys. Although originally charged with four counts of taking indecent liberties with a nine-year-old girl and an eleven-year-old boy in 2005, Leroy Schad was given a plea deal of the lesser charge of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.

Now, normally a plea deal like this would get Mr. Right Opinion’s blood boiling. I mean, what judge in their right mind would allow such a thing, right? How about a very crafty one.

You see, Mr. Schad is now on five years’ home incarceration. Now, granted, that alone would not suffice as a punishment for what he was convicted of. However, part of Mr. Schad’s sentence is that he must post hand-painted signs on all four sides of his house which boldly proclaim, “A Sex Offender Lives Here.”

And if he is allowed to go to the store, or maybe church for “confession?” Well, his car has a decal which carries a similar message: “Sex Offender In This Car.” In bright, bold yellow letters. Nice touch, Your Honor.

And from what I can glean, these signs must remain posted throughout the five-year sentence.

The judge who rendered this decision is District Judge Ron Svaty. And in my book, he is a true American hero.

Schad, who is appealing the signage, could have received three years in prison for his perverted acts with the minor. Said he, “I know that I deserve something for that, but I don't think I deserve what I got.” Well, Mr. Schad, I think you are wrong. I think you should have served the three years, and THEN gotten the five years of signage.

Schad is appealing the sign part of his sentence. Gee, I wonder if the ACLU will get involved to come to this predator’s defense. They love causes that allow sex conduct by adults with kids (NAMBLA, for instance). Or would that fall under the jurisdiction of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals?

If you would like to show Judge Ron Svaty your support, I would encourage you to call his office at 785-472-8931. Way to go, Judge!

Mideast Peace Agreement Seems Unlikely

I have been watching this situation between Israel and the Palestinians for a long time. I was a freelance reporter for Talon News when Condoleeza Rice was named Secretary of State. And I remember her making promises that she would spend however much time was necessary to hammer-out a peace agreement between the two sides.

Then came a spate of Palestinian rocket attacks, suicide bombings, and kidnappings, not just of Israelis, but of Western reporters, workers, and so on. There was, of course, retaliation for these acts on the part of Israel, who has every right to defend and protect herself. What started out as a hopeful process has sadly turned back to “the way we were” for the Israelis and Palestinians.

I actually was hopeful when Yasser Arafat died that a more moderate leader would be able to step to the fore of Palestinian politics. And one did: Mahmoud Abbas, who was at least ready to admit that the state of Israel had a right to exist…kind of a rarity in those parts.

Still, in the back of my mind, I was leery of the proposed “roadmap” that Pres. Bush had laid out. For it called for Israel to divide itself and give up some of its most sacred lands, something that I know, from reading my Bible, is not to be done. In fact, God threatens retaliation on anyone who divides the land he has set aside for His “chosen people.” And when God retaliates, things get ugly--fast!

But I think that I, like a lot of people, still held out hope that Israel could somehow reach an agreement with a more moderate leader like Abbas. And, if Abbas were all that the world had to contend with, I think that ideal might have merit. Abbas seems at least AS concerned for the plight of his people as he is with stealing back land which is rightfully Israel’s.

But then something shocking happened. Of all the “political” groups, Hamas won the majority of Palestinian elections. Hamas, a terrorist organization that refuses to even acknowledge Israel’s right to exist, a group of radical islamo-facists, funded by Syria, and by proxy, by Iran, took control of the Palestinian people and rendered Abbas essentially impotent.

I write about this now because U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney is on a mission to the region, meeting with Abbas and Israeli PM Ehud Ulmert. Cheney is desperately trying to salvage the roadmap, and find a way to achieve peace before the end of the Bush administration’s term. And if peace between the two sides is to be achieved, now is certainly the time.

If they wait, and if Hillary, or even worse, Barack Hussein Obama, becomes the next U.S. President, America’s official support of Israel will be diminished significantly, if not all together. A point which PM Ulmert made clear in his speech during Pres. Bush’s trip to the region in January. He knows what is on the horizon if one of these two Democrats gets into power.

And I have a feeling the Palestinians are well aware of this, too. For recent weeks have seen increased rocket attacks against Israel from the Gaza Strip. And, as is to be expected, Israel has retaliated. So, peace seems to be an illusion.

As V.P. Cheney said of the Palestinian attacks, “"Terror and rockets do not merely kill innocent civilians…[T]hey also kill legitimate hopes and aspirations of the Palestinian people."

Happy Easter-2008

It seems to be “that time of year” again. For some of us, “that time of year” means midnight mass, for others it may mean waking up bright and early and searching feverishly through our closets trying to find that “Spring” suit that we haven’t worn since last Easter and making the annual pilgrimage to church to make sure we cover our butts for yet another year.

For some, it may mean hiding Easter eggs in the back yard, some chocolate, some marshmallow, and some plastic with a wadded up one-dollar bill inside. My kids LOVE the plastic ones. There is nothing better than the excitement on a young child’s face when she/he “finds” a dollar!

Or is there? Have you ever seen the face of a broken-down alcoholic or drug addict who has lost everything, including his children, because of his uncontrollable addictions? How about the face of a mother who has just had her children taken away because she felt the need to spend that last $20.00 on crack, instead of taking it to the store and getting a day’s worth of food?

Those faces are hard to watch. And no, they’re most definitely not better than the face of a child who finds a dollar. But those faces can change, and that is what this “time of year” is all about.

Now, I would ask that you think about the faces I mentioned, the negative ones. You have seen them on street corners, lying in alley ways, or maybe just on your television set in your nice, comfortable home. No matter the medium, we have all seen the faces.

Now I want to ask you this: Have you ever seen the face of a broken-down alcoholic, a drug addict, or a mother who made the wrong choice and lost her kids after they have heard the Easter message? Have you seen the glimmer of hope in their eyes that says “maybe, just maybe, it’s not too late?”

Once they have heard that Jesus Christ lived, and yes, died, to save them from their sin. Once they actually realize, and firmly believe, that Easter is not about bunnies, or candy, or even colored eggs. But rather, it is about salvation, about the prospect of redemption! What great news! Christ has died to forgive all of these sins and so much more!

I am so glad, not just today, but every day, that God loved me so much that he sacrificed his only Son, that I shall not perish, but have everlasting life! Is that not fabulous? Of course it is!

Earthly judges may hold onto their resentments for a lifetime. I may have harmed people in my past who will never forgive me. But God says He stands ready to forgive us all of all our sin. All we need to do is ask, and it shall be delivered unto us.

So, at least for today, instead of focusing on all the negative, political garbage going on in our country, and indeed the world, I choose to focus on the fact that God loves me, just as I am. I don’t have to wear fancy clothes or make six figures for God to love me. And I don’t have to go to prison to atone for my sins. All I have to do is ask, and all will be made right.

I hope that your Easter is full of turkey, ham, and all the good nourishment that our body needs. But let us not forget to nourish the soul as well. I hope your kids will laugh, play, and glow when they find that dollar. But let us not forget to tell our children the true meaning of Easter as well.

God Bless you all! Happy Easter!

Easter Weekend Special Assignment: To Dr. Jeremiah Wright and TUCC

Yesterday afternoon, I was listening to the Kevin McCullough show on BlogNet Radio, and we were all discussing the controversy surrounding Barack Obama, and his racist, anti-American pastor, the wrong-reverend Wright.

As we discussed the issue, Kevin was elightened with a wonderful idea...kill 'em with love. Here is what his Townhall blog says:

"God Bless America!"

On the broadcast today a SPECIAL Easter Weekend idea hit some of my listeners and I at the same time. This weekend - thousands of born again, Evangelical and Catholic, Black and White - CHRISTIANS will be observing the celebration of Jesus Christ's miracle of Resurrection over sin and death. In this nation - we have greater religious liberty and freedom than any other nation on earth.

So our goal for the "GOD BLESS AMERICA" campaign - THIS WEEKEND - is to remind Dr. Wright and the Trinity United Church of Christ about God's blessings that He HAS poured out on us.

We are asking YOU to take part in this with thousands of like-minded Christians from across the nation...

Dial Trinity at 773.962.5650 - all weekend long - and tell them that you're praying "for God to bless America." Repeat it three times, thank them for their time and then let them go. Three times Dr. Wright called down God's damnation on America in the soundbyte that has been played over and over.

Imagine thousands of messages of blessing - coming from mostly WHITE people to let Dr. Wright know that we are asking God to bless us, and Trinity UCC by extension.

The weight of this ounce of goodness would be heavier than ten tons of guilt. My listeners took to the idea immediately. But we need radio shows, blogs, columnists and everyday people to pass it on to their friends.

Call Trinity at 773.962.5650...

Or fill up their e-mail inbox at: info@TUCC.org!

Fifth Anniversary of the Iraq War-A National Prayer-Author Unknown

As we have just marked the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq War, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and pray. I am not trying to use this occasion as an opportunity to sell books, but the article I want to refer to is no longer available on this blog. It is called, “The Case For the Iraq War-The Evidence And The Moscow Connection.” It is in my book, “Mr. Right Opinion-Unplugged and Unashamed,” which is available here: http://www.51756.authorworld.com/.

Anyway, since the beginning of this war in Iraq, people have said it was a war built on a lie. That it was G.W. Bush getting vengeance for G.H.W. Bush. Well, that is simply not true, and there is evidence to back that up. It is just that the mainstream media won’t tell you about it; they have an agenda.

Highly-placed officials in the U.S. and other governments have evidence that WMD’s were in fact in Iraq, and that they were disposed of in a contingency plan with Russia, to be used at a later date. All the information is in my book.

At this point, though, I would like to offer a “National Prayer” which I saw, to my surprise, on the wall of a local hospital. It goes as follows:

National Prayer

Lord, we come to You on bended knee,
heads bowed and our hearts filled, overflowing
With so much grief for the many people who have
Been injured and killed in our National crisis.

We ask you Lord, to give courage
and strength to those who so bravely
go to their aid. And though their hearts will
be heavy and filled with sorrow, we ask Lord
that You give them the endurance needed
to help them through this difficult task.

Please give us the strength, Lord
to get through each difficult and devastating
day that faces each of us and our country.
Protect and guide our military that
are now being called to duty.

We ask Lord, that you guide the leaders
of our great country in their hour of decision.
The burden that has been placed on their
shoulders during this crisis is overwhelming.
We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You
guide them gently to the right decisions.

And lastly Lord, we ask that You
allow us all to come together as a nation,
to stand tall and united, so that we might
help each other in our hour of need.
Amen
